The extraordinary work of some of our students and their teams deserve special recognition. Being selected for our Course's Hall of Fame ranks up there with getting an Academy Award or winning a Nobel Prize. Here are some of our Gold Medal Winners and a few outstanding business plans.
Spring 2014's Gold Medal winning team not only solved a transporation problem but also expanded our vocabulary. Everyone now knows what a Mobius is (and can even spell it), They also worked extra hard, upgrading their Championship PItch and earning a pile of extra-credit points. Congratulations.
The Ecorder team’s big smiles and pockets-full of extra-credit points are the rewards from a term of hard work and great ideas. It may have been cold and snowed during Winter 2014, but Ecorder delivered the goods to their customers. Let’s hear it for another fabulous team of Gold Medal winners.
What better for “Rip City” than a big dose of “Zip City?” This high-flying team figured out how to keep our roads and drivers a little safer. And you would never guess that a fold-up scooter solves the problem. Congratulations to these Gold Medal winners from Winter 2014.
Need something right now. There's no one faster or better than "Courier Express." They sped away with the Noon Section's Gold Medal for Fall 2013. The weather was cold when they presented but they warmed things up in a hurry.
The Two PM Section from Fall 2013 showed us what perserverance and hard work is all about. Team "Salvage" overcame adversity and powered themselves to a Gold Medal. Look at those smiles as they bask in the glow of earning a bunch of extra-credit points.
Look out coffee shops and drinkers. There's a new competitor in town that's got it "down to a tea." Congratulations to 2013 Spring Term's Gold Medal Winner - the sartorially impeccable team from "Tea World." After their pitch, everyone else was left "holding the bag!"
Some things are meant to be. Just before this Gold-medal Winning Team from Winter 2013 began its presentation, white smoke was seen coming from the Sistine Chapel's chimney. This Championship Team's name: Holy Thunder. You can't make up stuff like that. Congratulations on a "divine" performance.
In a rush? Need a rush? Any time night or day? According to this Gold-medal winning team from Winter 2013, there's only one call to make: Night Owls Dinner Rush. And did they ever deliver! Nice work team. Congratulations!
Thanks to the intrepid crew from "Campus Cab," we'll never worry again about getting home. They also took home the Gold from Fall 2012's Noon Section. Check out those stylish shirts along with the smiles and their Gold Medals.
The Two PM Section from Fall 2012 skillfully identified their resources and then deployed them to solve a problem facing many of our International Students. Congratulations to International Student Solutions who (obviously) got Keisuke into his groove.
Our Spring 2012 Gold-medal winners went into the Championship Round as the third seed. They worked long and hard planning how to step-it-up with an all-out effort to win that pile of extra-credit points. Congratulations to the Pearl Wellness Team.
Our Gold-medal winners from Winter 2012 combined great business planning with even better presentation skills (and a dose of humor for good measure). Best of all, they gave us a lesson in great teamwork: Teams need leadership more than leaders and the Team always comes first.
According to our Spring 2011 Gold-medal winning team, there are two ways to get a good job in this tough economy. First, get your business education at Portland State. Next, and most important, hire them to match your skills with a great business. That's why they're called, "Precision Placement."
The Gold-medal winning team from the Noon Section of Winter Term 2011 went the extra mile when they were challenged to do something to help their community. High energy and even higher ideals were what the "Feed the Need" team was all about. Congratulations on an outstanding performance. I'll bet we'll hear more from this team of hyper-achievers!
The Gold Medal for the Two PM section of Winter Term 2011 went to a team that was "positively" fabulous. Their high quality work and presentations "fit" them perfectly. They never "paused" in their dedication to winning the gold. Congratulations to the "Pawsitively Fit" Team. And the "very distinguished-looking gentleman" in the picture appreciated getting to spend a couple of days each week hanging out with these future business tycoons.
Fall 2010 concluded with another round of action-packed, thrill-filled elevator pitches. The competition was fierce and the quality even better. When the dust settled, the Noon Section's Viking List walked away with the Gold Medal. Unfortunately, they didn't get their picture taken. The Two PM Section winners - WeGo Bikes - didn't miss out. What a photogenic group. Nothing like a bunch of extra-credit points to bring out those smiles.
From Winter 2010's Noon Section, this Gold-Medal Winning Team featured Hubert who was ably assisted by some two-legged future business managers. Meet, what else, the "Howlin' Hounds."
The "Custom-Fit Cycling" Team from the Fall 2009 2:00 PM section won a Gold Medal but their favorite football team didn't win the "War for the Roses."
From the Spring 2009 section, here's "The Haven" team, that also received special recognition for being the "Best-Dressed Team." No one snoozed through their pitch.
